Bye Summer!

I had an amazing week acting in another workshop of barren by Alex Lin directed by Iris McCloughan at the Cape Cod Theater Project in Cape Cod, MA!

Back in New York, I got to spend a day working on Emma Horwitz’s HEIFER, with the Playwright’s Realm as well as a EST Bloodworks reading of Brysen Boyd’s a naked man in his early eighties stands in the center of the stage directed by Garrett Allen.

I was also lucky enough to play the role of Christa in a 29 hour reading of Jesse Jae Hoon’s I’ve Got a Sinking Feeling in the Pit of my Stomach, directed by Tea Alagic, for the Terrance McNally Incubator series with Rattlestick Theater, the Terrence McNally Foundation and Tom Kirdahy Productions.

May and June!

I booked and shot a top of show guest star for the final season of BLUE BLOODS!

I worked on an internal reading of Miz Hashimoto’s play Somewhere Outside of Everywhere for EST/Youngblood!

And right now I’m in Fort Worth, Texas for the week to work on Alex Lin’s barren for the Sparkfest New Works Festival! Sparkfest is put on by Amphibian Stage, and barren is being directed by Iris McCloughan.

It's been awhile...

Big news! I decided to start writing this website in first person ;) Here are some other things that have happened in the past year:

I signed with Erin Grush and the whole amazing team at CESD for theatrical representation!

THE ADULTS, a very special film by Dustin Guy Defa that I was very proud to be a small part of premiered internationally at Berlinale, and stateside at Tribeca Film Festival.

I starred in SWEETGREEN, a short film by Phillip Vernon (DP’ed by my very cool cousin Elijah Guess) that premiered at NewFest.

I read the short story MAKE YOURSELF INTO A HOUSE, winner of the 2022 Stella Kupferberg Memorial Short Story Prize written by Grace Shuyi Liew for Symphony Space’s SELECTED SHORTS broadcast on NPR hosted by Dennis O’Hare sharing the stage with Arian Moyad, Jennifer Mudge and James Naughton.

I then returned to Symphony Space as an actor for their ALL WRITE program reading alongside Pascal Armand and Philip Estrera

DISRUPTION Reading

Emma played the role of RAVEN in a reading of the new play DISRUPTION by Andrew Stein, directed by Hersh Ellis. The reading was open to the public at Open Jar Studios and here is the Broadway World article announcing the cast!

BRAINSMASH at 59E59 with The Hearth

Catch Emma in a very fun multiple role track of CHORUS in the world premiere of BRAINSMASH by Sophie Weisskoff, directed by artistic director of The Hearth Theater Company, Emma Miller. BRAINSMASH will run March 2-19th in Theater C. For tickets and more information, click here!

2022!

Emma started 2022 as SIOBHAN in Sam Chanse’s WHAT YOU ARE NOW produced by Ensemble Studio Theatre and the Civilians, Directed by Steve Cosson. It was so wonderful to see the role she had been workshopping for years through to its world premiere off broadway!

Emma also fulfilled a lifetime dream of playing an emotionally complicated true crime podcast host in Audible Theater’s audio play SONG OF THE NORTHWOODS, by Jessica Huang, directed by Jacki Bradley. The audio play is currently available exclusively on Audible, and made Audible’s best audio theatre of 2022 list! Catch Emma as Lucy alongside Michele Selene Ang as Song.

Emma returned for a third time to the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwright Conference in JuCoby Johnson’s 5, directed by H. Adam Harris, as the role of JUNE.

She also shot a supporting role in the feature THE ADULTS, directed by Dustin Guy Defa, starring Michael Cera, Sophia Lillis and Hannah Gross. THE ADULTS will premiere at the 2023 Berlinale Film Festival.

Emma shot a supporting role in 12 HOURS IN THE LIFE OF JASON BRUCKNER, a feature film directed by Max Rothman, starring Ben Alhers.

THE GROCERY LIST, a short film directed by Joanne Mony Park that Emma shot in 2021, premiered at NEWFEST, the New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival.

She participated in the 24 Hour Viral Monologues in a “duologue” HOW TO BE FRIENDS WITH ANYONE by Serena Berman, with Tessa Albertson.

Emma also participated in multiple readings of new plays, a few being: FLINCHING by Sofya Levitsky Weitz, COME HOME TO ME by Maya Lawson, and BRAINSMASH by Sophie Weisskoff.

EST/Youngblood Podcast Play!

Emma had a blast playing Naomi Frank in EST/Youngblood’s Monday lunch Podcast Play ELENA FRANK’S WINTER ASMR TAPE by Miz Hashimoto, Directed by John Giampietro. You can give it a listen HERE !

LOVE LIFE on HBO Max

You can catch Emma as a reccurring role on season two of LOVE LIFE on HBO MAX in episodes 2 and 3! She plays Keiko, girlfriend of Ida (Punkie Johnson)— a bartender and aspiring etsy artisan.

24 Hour Monologues!

Emma was thrilled to participate in the 24 hour viral monologues! DO YOU WANT TO BUY A GOURD AT THE END OF THE WORLD was written by Jesse Jae Hoon and performed/recorded by Emma all within 24 hours! Check out her performance and more about 24 Hour Plays HERE.

It's been awhile!

She studio and network tested for the POWERPUFF pilot on the CW.

She guest starred in the Comedy Central pilot MEATY, based on the essay series by Samantha Irby directed by Abbi Jacobson.

KHAKI IS NOT LEATHER

In this unprecedented time, Emma is very excited to take part in the SAG New Media Series KHAKI IS NOT LEATHER. She will be in the episode entitled LOVE FAR, FAR AWAY written by Konyin Ayuba and Ray Smiling, directed by Ray Smiling and produced by Chris Dodds.

2020 READINGS

Emma was thrilled to take part in two readings in January of 2020, WHEN A GOOD MAN DIES IT IS SAD by Lilly Houghton directed by Danya Taymour at Atlantic Theater Company as well as WHAT YOU ARE NOW written by Samantha Chanse and directed by Steve Cosson produced by The Civillians and New Dramatists.

BLACK AND WHITE AND RED ALL OVER

Emma had a wonderful time shooting the indie feature BLACK AND WHITE AND RED ALL OVER playing the supporting lead role of CAMILLA. The film was directed by Oliver Dungey and cast by Des Hamilton.

BULL

Emma is thrilled to be guest starring as TARA ATKINS on episode 4.05 of BULL on CBS! The episode will air on the 21st of October and was directed by Aaron Lipstadt.

ANTIGONES at the O’Neill Theater Center

Emma spent a wonderful week at the O’Neill Theater Center playing Ismene in Anna Ziegler’s ANTIGONES directed by Casey Stangl as part of the 2019 National Playwrights Conference! It was great to return after working on Kieth Huff’s UP THE HILL in 2016.

FRUITING BODIES at Ma-Yi Theater Company

Emma will be playing VICKY in Ma-Yi Theater Company’s off broadway premiere of Fruiting Bodies by Sam Chanse, directed by Shelley Butler. It will run from April 23rd to May 19th at the Clurman Theater at Theater Row. Fruiting Bodies was on the 2015 Kilroy’s list and Emma is thrilled to be originating another role off-broadway! Emma will be playing the leading role of CASS in a workshop production of This Party Sucks by Sofya Levitsky-Weitz, directed by Seonjae Kim as part of Seonjae’s 2050 directing fellowship at New York Theatre Worskhop. The presentation is closed to non industry guests.
